What Is Nicotine Salt?

To keep things simple, nicotine containing e-liquids, or e-juice, can be categorised as freebase or Nic Salt. While freebase is common in most e-liquids, nicotine salts differ from freebase because of the added ingredient - benzoic acid. Created specifically for smokers or those trying to quit, nic salts provide a stronger hit in smaller doses to avoid 'chain vaping'. Blending with the e-liquid which typically contains ingredients like PG and VG, this allows a much quicker absorption of nicotine into the bloodstream. Benzoic acid reduces the PH level of a nicotine solution, providing smoother flavours with a similar vapour production to smoking. As an added benefit, you can also vape at a lower temperature with nicotine salts.

Can you use salt nic in any vape?

For the best vaping experience when using nic salts, opt for a pod device that’s tailored to Mouth to Lung (MTL) vaping, a technique that is similar to smoking. Due to the higher concentration of nicotine compared to freebase, inhaling too much with the wrong technique will result in an unpleasant experience. Staying below 50 watts is ideal, so opt for a lower wattage device to increase performance. How to use nic salts?

As mentioned the Mouth to Lung technique is the best method when using nic salts. A simple enough technique which once mastered, it ensures the optimum level of nicotine, flavour and strength from your salt nic. The trick is not keeping the nic salts vapour in your mouth too long. Once you take a draw of nicotine salt e-liquid into your mouth, only keep it there for a few seconds. Remember not to swallow it, but breathe the vapour into the lungs after opening your mouth. How long do nic salts last?

This depends entirely on the amount you vape and your chosen device. Many vapers find that they need to vape less when using nicotine salts, due to the stronger concentration of nicotine. This in turn makes the liquid last longer. It’s not just the amount of vaping you do that will save you money, the device will also determine how much e-liquid is used. As mentioned, a low wattage pod or mod that uses a lower resistance Sub-Ohm coil is best for use with nic salts, l typically using less e-liquid. A higher Sub-Ohm coil will create lots of vapour. However, it requires much more liquid to create the large clouds that are produced.

Are nic salts bad for you?

If you are wondering if nic salt is a safe alternative e-liquid, the only difference between freebase nicotine, which is in most e-liquids and nic salts is the addition of Benzoic Acid, which occurs naturally in plants and is used safely in food manufacturing. While research is limited, no evidence suggests nic salts are dangerous, and what we can assume is nic salts remain a good option, based on the need to consume less than freebase nicotine.

Do nic salts have side effects

Like with all nicotine-based products, side effects may occur if not used properly. Should there be any doubts, consulting with a medical professional is advised. Nevertheless, while nicotine is commonly associated with cigarette health damage, it’s in fact the tobacco and other dangerous chemicals that play a bigger role. However, when used with the right device and vaping technique, nic salts only cause chemical reactions to the body such as nausea or headaches when inhaling too strong a dose.
